John Steffl

Truth is a hall of mirrors.

Objects and events not only reflect themselves but also refract a broad spectrum of observations and feelings, which in turn, form human perception. My experiences suggest art is less about reflecting truth and more about shaping perception. Consequently, I have come to realize my images function as gateways, a means for me to dissipate the power of anxiety, escape the confines of asensual institutions, and oppose the anesthesia of post-modern life. To this end, I endeavor to flood my eyes with luminous color, surround myself with vibrant light, and immerse myself in outrageous beauty.
