QUILTS

The painting created by Lee Zimmerman during the Brave Event, will touch on six themes. Each theme will form a single panel that will be turned into an art quilt by renowned quilter Karen McTavish. View the practice quilt HERE

The six silk paintings that were created at the BRAVE Event are in the process of being quilted. The set will be completed by the beginning of January 2011. The DAIP is in the process of organizing a traveling exhibit of these quilts. If you or someone in your city is interested please contact the DAIP at GSwensen@theduluthmodel.org

Keep checking here for more information as the process proceeds. Below are the themes that were used to create the images on the 30 foot tower of silk and the sketch of the plan.

Rough Plan

Flight Schedule

The images to the far left are roughly representative of the six themes: Falling, Achilles, Lonely King, Dreams, Masquarade, and Beast (from top to bottom). The thirty foot white silk was marked with colored cards every 5 feet corresponding to a single image theme.

The image just to the left is my path up and down the tower of silk. I started at the top with the falling angels. When I needed to move to the next section I would signal that by pulling out a colored card. Small adjustments were made with hand signals. We used the colored cards as signals because with the distance and lighting numbers or letters were hard to see.
